Xfinity NOW Internet is Comcast’s prepaid home internet: $30 a month for 100 Mbps or $45 a month for 200 Mbps, with taxes, the gateway and unlimited data included. There is no credit check and no annual contract. You pay ahead by card, self-install the gateway, and activate it in the Xfinity app.
That makes it a different product from regular Xfinity Internet, which is cheaper per megabit but bills taxes on top and asks for a stored bank account. Here is how the two compare, and how setup actually goes.

The sharpest comparison sits at $45. NOW200 costs $45 with taxes included, while standard Xfinity sells 500 Mbps for $45 plus taxes. If you can pass the regular sign-up and pay by bank account, standard Xfinity gives you more than twice the speed for close to the same money.
NOW wins when you want no credit check, card payments, or the option to stop paying for a few months without canceling.
What you give up with the prepaid plan
The NOW Internet FAQ lists limits that the sales page skips. The WiFi name and password printed on the gateway sticker cannot be changed. You cannot bring your own modem. Xfinity WiFi hotspots are not included.
Refunds stop at activation. Once the service is live, there are no refunds or prorations, and the gateway warranty is 90 days. Service is also limited to a single outlet.
Eligibility is narrower too. You must be 18 or older at a serviceable Xfinity address, and you cannot hold other Xfinity services except Xfinity Mobile. Fiber properties and buildings with bulk or managed WiFi service are excluded.
How NOW Internet setup works
Professional installation is not offered. The Getting Started Kit ships with the gateway, a power cord, a coax cable and a quick-start guide. A modem you already own will not work here, because the kit gateway is the only device NOW Internet will activate.

- Connect the coax cable from the wall outlet to the gateway, then plug in the power cord.
- Install the Xfinity app, or scan the QR code in the kit.
- On the home screen, tap Activate now under “Got new equipment to set up?”, then Get started.
- Find the WiFi name and password on the gateway sticker and tap Next.
- Wait for the top three lights to stay solid, then tap Lights are solid. If they keep blinking, check the coax cable or try another outlet.
- Stay in the app while setup finishes, then tap Done to restart the gateway.

Xfinity NOW Internet questions
Can I switch between NOW100 and NOW200?
Yes. Select Switch to 200 Mbps in your NOW account and the faster tier starts right away. Downgrading keeps NOW200 speeds until your prepaid period ends, with no refund.
What happens if I pause NOW Internet?
Turning off autopay pauses the service at the end of your prepaid period. You can restart within 180 days. After that, the account is canceled and the gateway stops working.
Do I return the gateway when I cancel?
No. Xfinity says you keep it and recommends recycling it. If you move, you cancel and sign up again at the new address, and a new gateway ships to you.
