Disney+ runs on Roku through the Roku Store, and the sign-in happens on your phone rather than the TV. Add the app, open it, choose Log In, then enter the 8-digit code at DisneyPlus.com/begin.
If playback fails after that, the error number tells you which part broke. Most Disney Plus Roku faults sit in one of three places: the app version is behind, the network is unstable, or your plan is already at its stream limit.
Add Disney Plus from the Roku Store
Press Home, scroll to Store, select Apps and find Disney+. If you set a Roku account PIN, Roku asks for it before installing. Two other routes skip the remote entirely: channelstore.roku.com while signed in, and the Roku mobile app.
Here is the part that catches people out. Roku attaches apps to your account, not to the box in front of you, so adding Disney+ puts it on every Roku linked to that account. Removing it strips it from all of them.
That is the platform behaving as designed, and it fits the pattern of what the Roku operating system actually controls. If you installed from the web and nothing appears on the TV, run Settings, then System, then System update and Check now.
Sign in with the 8-digit code
Open Disney+ and select Log In. The screen shows a QR code with an eight-digit code beneath it.
Scan the QR, or type DisneyPlus.com/begin into a phone browser and enter those digits. Finish logging in there and the TV refreshes by itself, ending on a Start Streaming button.
Read the digits off the TV as you type them, because the code cycles. Disney suggests an incognito window when the /begin link stalls.
Dead codes recur across streaming apps, and the reason an activation code keeps failing is usually the browser session, not the Roku.
What each error code is really telling you
Error 83 gets blamed on accounts and almost never is one. Disney files it under device compatibility or connection, including the case where someone watches in a browser instead of the app.
Error 42 is narrower. It points at an unstable or slow connection, and the documented fix is to power cycle the modem and router rather than the Roku.
Error 75 is arithmetic. A Disney+ plan streams on four devices at once, Hulu content inside a bundle allows two, and an Extra Member gets one. Open Manage Devices and sign out the ones you forgot.
Update the app from Settings, not the Store
There is no update button on the Disney+ tile. Roku collects app updates during a system check, so the route is Settings, then System, then System Update.
Disney published that same path as the fix for Roku hardware that could not start Disney+ (With Ads) until the app caught up. Run it before reinstalling anything.
The supported model list runs from Roku 2 (4210X) and Roku 3 through the Streaming Stick, Express, Premiere and Ultra ranges, Roku TV in 2K and 4K, plus the Roku Smart Speaker. Hardware older than that list is where code 83 lives.
Why does Disney Plus keep asking me to sign in on my Roku?
A logout drops that device from your Disney+ account and Roku holds no password to replay, so the code has to be entered again. If it repeats, check Manage Devices for something signing devices out.
How do I change Disney Plus subtitles or audio on Roku?
Press the * button during playback to open the settings menu, then pick your audio and subtitle language. Which keys sit around the star varies between Roku remote models.
Does Roku charge me for Disney Plus?
Roku does not charge for the app. Your subscription is billed by Disney or by Roku depending on where you signed up, and the Payment Method line on your Disney+ account page names the biller.
