The Zenfone 8 will be launched at a lower price than the iPhone 12 Mini

The Zenfone 8 series from ASUS will be officially announced tomorrow, May 12, and the standard model seems to be more interesting than the one considered “superior”. That’s because for the first time in many years, an Android phone maker will launch a small model to compete in the market with the iPhone 12 Mini. However, it seems that ASUS will offer a better equipped phone from certain points of view, at a lower price.

The new ASUS compact phone is equipped with flagship hardware

The new information about the Zenfone 8 in the standard version, with a 5.92 ”screen, suggests that the ASUS model will start at a price 100 euros lower than the one for the competing model from Apple. The price list revealed by 91mobiles, a source that recently published real images with Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip, puts the basic model at a starting price of only 699 euros.

In comparison, the Apple model comes with a smaller screen, 5.4 “, with 60 Hz panel, 4 GB of RAM and only 64 GB of internal storage, at a price of 799 euros. The battery on the Apple model is smaller, only 2,227 mAh, and the charging is at a maximum of 20W. Also, the iPhone 12 Mini offers only facial recognition, while the Zenfone 8 model is expected with a fingerprint sensor on the screen.

However, there will also be a variant of 799 euros for the ASUS model, with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, ie four times what Apple offers in both chapters. When you balance all this with the Snapdragon 888 processor, the ASUS model seems to be a much better deal, at least on paper.

Of course, this does not mean that Apple will run out of customers, as fans of the brand often choose the company’s products for software, services and ecosystem, or even design. However, with the launch of Zenfone 8, Android fans who want a compact phone will have such an option on the market.
