Capcom Announces Resident Evil 3 Video Game

Resident Evil is a worldwide franchise created by Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara and owned by Capcom. Initially, the company released a series of survival horror video games that were successful worldwide, which determined Capcom to create a series of live-action and animated movies, books, novels, merchandise, and more.

The main story of Resident Evil follows the outbreak of zombies and other horrific creatures created by the Umbrella Corporation.

The first Resident Evil game was launched in 1996, having been named a pioneer of the survival horror genre of games. Its popularity led to an increased interest in zombie films in the 2000s, and the Resident Evil films are the highest-grossing series based on video games.

Resident Evil 2, the second video game of the series, was released earlier this year after Capcom had been planning its launch for over a decade. In 2015, Capcom announced the development of RE2, and the first trailer and gameplay footage for the game was revealed at E3 2018.

Resident Evil 2 was released worldwide on January 25, 2019, and it is now available for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows. By December, the game sold more than 5 million copies more than the first Resident Evil, receiving multiple awards.

While Resident Evil 2 is still fresh, a Steam achievement revealed recently might be teasing the next game of the series.

Last month, fans of the franchise noticed a secret achievement made an appearance on RE2’s Steam achievement list. Today, it has been revealed that it is related to Capcom’s next game.

Yesterday, Capcom revealed that it’s planning the release of Resident Evil 3. Even more, the release date is set for April 3, 2020.

RE3’s storyline takes place in the same timeframe as RE2. It seems that Capcom will be offering another Easter Egg that could connect the two games, involving Jill Valentine finding a letter in Raccoon City.

It is still unknown when players will be able to find the letter, but they should have to wait much longer, considering we are only a few months away from the RE3 release.
