New Exclusive Horror IP for PlayStation 5 Could Be Under Works, Says Industry Insider

We all know game developers are continuously working on new games for the next-gen consoles. Since Sony has been keeping everything related to their PS5 a secret, there’s no doubt some of these secrets are bound to leak. Thanks to notorious industry insider Emre Kaya, we learn from his Twitter about Sony’s plan on creating an exclusive horror IP for its PS5:

I know I don’t normally post about gaming stuff (except Batman related things), but I have learned that Sony is currently working on a new horror IP. Interesting…”

While he didn’t precisely note the game will be coming on the PS5, we can all agree that according to the timing, it will certainly be coming for the next-gen console.

Creating the Scariest Horror Game

Add the fact that Hideo Kojima stated he wants to create the “scariest horror game,” and fans cannot wait to hear more about it, this leak delivered by Emre confirms all our theories. Even though he did say in an interview with IGN that he gets easily scared, let’s hope he gets through with this one:

I get scared very easily. Actually, this is true of Alfred Hitchcock as well as Steven Spielberg. Because they scare easily, because I scare easily, it’s actually easy for us to make something that is scary, because we understand what is scary.

But while in that process, we always imagine, like, terrifying situations, so it ends up giving me bad dreams. That’s the reason why I don’t want to make a horror game.”

Remember the chilling P.T. demo and the canceled Silent Hills? Perhaps Kojima has gathered his strength this time to complete his horror masterpiece in time so that it can be delivered as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in the coming year. He did mention he’s trying to awaken his horror soul in a Tweet from November 2019:

As to make the scariest horror game, I’ll watch the scary movies to awaken my horror soul. THE EYE is the Thai horror movie I rent when making PT, but it was too scary to finish watching. The package is scary, so I rented the disc only. Will I be able to finish watching?”

Sony Will Surely Add a New Horror IP, Since The Genre Is on the Rise

Sony would definitely want to bring a new horror IP this year since we had Resident Evil 2, and since this game genre has been on the rise, it makes sense for the company to be interested in a new IP.

And if Kojima isn’t ready to stun us all with a horror game, then the God of War creator David Jaffe has mentioned he’s been thinking of developing a horror game, so why wouldn’t he do it for Sony, given their relations?

The bottom line is that the PlayStation 5 will get its new horror IP, and we hope to see it teased when the console is revealed. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for Kojima!
