Amazon announces end of SF series “The Expanse”

If the producers don’t change their minds again, this time the American TV series “The Expanse” will come to an end. The series, produced after the novels of James S.A. Corey, was renewed with season six, but this is also the last, according to the directors.

The producers announced season six, on November 24, but also the end of “The Expanse”, before the launch of season five, which will be broadcast starting with December 16. Fans of the show know all too well that this is not the first time the end of the series has been announced.

A similar announcement was made by the TV channel Syfy, in 2018, that the series will not continue. At that time, fans launched a campaign to save and bring back the series and Amazon announced that it would resume filming. Jeff Bezos, head of Amazon, then confirmed the news at the National Space Society conference.

“We talked earlier, before the dinner break, with those in the cast of the film and I told them that we are making sustained efforts to save the series, but nothing is certain yet. Then, during dinner, just 10 minutes ago, I was informed that the show was saved. The series is extraordinary and the team is incredibly talented “, said Bezos.

Season 6 production would begin in January 2021

According to Deadline, production on the sixth and final season is set to begin in January 2021. However, given the circumstances of the pandemic, this date may change. The producers have confirmed that everyone in the cast will return for filming, except for Cas Anvar.

Regarding the last season, executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said: “From the moment we decided to produce this show until this final season, we worked tirelessly to honor the writers’ vision. We are proud to have one of the most diverse distributions and stories that really matters. Special thanks to Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, the writers of the books and series, and Naren Shankar, the executive producer. It is still an honor to work with this team. We also thank Amazon for the continued support they have given us so that we can fully retell this story and offer ‘The Expanse’ to a global audience. ”

Naren Shankar added: “The dedication and skill of all those who have worked to bring‘ The Expanse ’to the screens is incredible. Our fans are wonderful and we can’t wait to start season six “.
