The last time I pinch-hit for George B. Moriarty, I sang the praises of our retirement writers and promised to spotlight our tech team next. As a man of my word, I’m happy to tout the accomplishments of tech editor Sean Allocca and fintech reporter Nicole Casperson.
Besides writing the On Technology column, deputy managing editor Sean Allocca has hosted various conferences and webinars, including our Fintech Virtual Summit. Most recently, he moderated a SALT conference panel. Meanwhile, he curates our Fintech for Advisers website and co-hosts the monthly Tech Stacks podcast with Nicole Casperson.
Nicole has been burning it up — writing big stories, interviewing industry leaders and being a presence on social media. She scored a scoop when Charles Schwab & Co. was hit with a lawsuit over its handling of cash sweeps. And using InvestmentNews Research data, she showed how Robinhood has been snapping up advisers.
Nicole also covered two live events in the space of a week: the SALT conference and the InvestmentNews Diversity, Equity & Inclusion awards.
To show her versatility, she wrote a series of estate planning stories chronicling pop superstar Britney Spears’ efforts to rid herself of a longtime conservatorship, and has moderated numerous Women Adviser Summit panels this year.
Sean and Nicole’s passion is an invitation to follow the exciting and fast-moving developments in tech right alongside them.
