2019 is coming to an end, and we don’t have any official updates or any information about the possibility of seeing The Sims 5 in the next year. So we can’t stop and wonder if the wait is in vain, or we can expect a hot release of The Sims 5 in 2020. Judging by the timetable of every company, we cannot give a sure answer to the pressing question.
However, even if the time line changes during the years, some companies are keeping it close. Also, they have a pattern of launching the games. When it comes to EA and Maxis, both companies are silent regarding the next game they have in development or even if they started to work on a game. At the same time, if we look at the companies’ past releases dates, we still can have hope.
The first game of The Sims series appeared in 2000. The gap between The Sims and The Sims 2 was for four years. The next installment from the series, The Sims 3, came in 2009, and the last one, The Sims 4, appeared in 2014.
When might The Sims 5 launch?
Thanks to the companies’ pattern of four to five years gap, everybody, including the fans of The Sims, was expecting that 2019 is the year of the grand announcement. Also, the E3 conference was the event that brought hope to everyone, but in vain. So, if five years of waiting are not enough, 2020 seems the logical choice for the next release.
On the other hand, the pattern of five years’ release is not the only thing to take into consideration. The Sims 4 is not at the final line from the perspective of the developers. During this year, EA was the one announcing that The Sims 4 is still on their table and new content is going to come very often. And as we all know, the game was changed and upgraded quite a few times. The best examples for the continuation of The Sims 4 are the two expansion packs released this year.
The game received Island Living in the summer, and Discover University this month.
Finally, if things continue on this trajectory, all of us will have to wait for The Sims 5 to be announced and launched. Until then, players are also waiting for a big announcement in 2020, which could come in the next spring.
