You can join a Teams meeting without an account: open the invite, select the link next to Join, choose Continue on this browser, and select Join now. Microsoft says you can do this from any device. The one catch is that some organizers require extra verification first.
Join from a browser on a laptop or desktop
The browser route needs no install. Microsoft says Teams for the web works on Edge or Chrome.
- Open the meeting invite and select the link next to Join, or select Join the meeting now.
- Select Continue on this browser, or Join on the Teams app if you already have it.
- Allow mic and camera access if the browser asks. You can switch both off after you’re in.
- Type your name if asked, then select Join now.
If admin settings require verification, enter your email address, select Send code, type the passcode from your inbox, then select Join now. With no account, that code is how you get in.

Join from your phone
Microsoft says mobile web browsers aren’t supported for Teams meetings, so a phone needs the app. Tap the invite link; if the app is missing, install it from the app store and tap the link again. Allow mic access, tap Join as a guest, type your name, and tap Join meeting.

The lobby and the label next to your name
Many organizers hold guests in a lobby until someone admits them. Microsoft says you’re removed after 30 minutes without an answer, and you can rejoin.
Everyone sees how you got in: Unverified with no email, Email verified with a one-time code, External with a Microsoft account.
Fixing the “Sign in to join this meeting” error
This message means the meeting only admits people signed in with a Teams work or school account, and a guest link won’t get you past it. Sign in with the account the invite went to, or ask the organizer to have their IT admin change the setting. Microsoft says that can take up to 24 hours to apply.
“This meeting is locked” means the organizer closed entry after the start. Wait a few minutes and retry if you see “The meeting lobby is full right now.”
