The Galaxy S21 series of smartphones will most likely start at the beginning of 2021, rumors placing the launch in January, a month earlier than in previous years. Thus, more and more details about the new Samsung phones are starting to appear. Today we have a series of unofficial photos, but which seem to be real, which show two important aspects of the new models: the glass that protects the screen and the back, along with the camera module, with an unusual design.
The screens on the Galaxy S21 are no longer so curved
First of all, we have the glass panels that protect the OLED screens of the Galaxy S21 models. Ice Universe, a well-known leaker on Twitter (and more recently Instagram), published a photo in which it claims to present the three protection models that will be used on the S21 series. We have a standard S21, an S21 + and the top model, S21 Ultra.
The diagonal increases for the basic model, from 6.1 to 6.3 ”, while the black edges around the screen decrease slightly in size. It is not very clear in the photo, but the standard model, the smallest, seems to have a flat screen, while the Galaxy S21 + and S21 Ultra models seem to use a subtly curved screen at the edges.
If we look at the S20 and Note20 series, Samsung seems to limit the curvature on the sides of the phones, and some give up completely. standard Note20 and S20 FE models use flat screens.
The room modules are much larger, strangely shaped
Finally, we have the first real photos with the backs of the devices. In this case we have only two of the options. On the one hand we have the Galaxy S21 +, with a smaller camera module, equipped with three sensors and a Galaxy S21 Ultra, with a system that uses four sensors.
The design seems to be the one we know, with a glass camera module, which continues on the sides of the devices. In fact, we already have information about the specifications of these cameras. The Galaxy S21 + (and probably the S20 Standard) will use two 12-megapixel sensors (wide and ultra-wide) and a 64-megapixel zoom camera that will crop 3x through the sensor, just like the S20 series. In fact, the specifications seem to be the same between generations.
On the Galaxy S21 Ultra, on the other hand, we can see some news. First, we have a laser module, also used on the Galaxy Note20 Ultra, which will help focus on the main camera. The latter will use a 108 megapixel sensor, while the ultra-wide camera seems to be the same as the lower models, with a 12 megapixel sensor. The other two cameras use 10-megapixel sensors, one for 10x optical zoom with a periscopic lens, and one with an intermediate zoom, probably 2 or 3x.
Another interesting detail, highlighted by this photo is the frosted glass, present on both models.
