Most of the time, Delta WiFi is not broken. Your device joined the network fine, but the sign-in page never opened, so nothing else loads either.
The fix takes about ten seconds. Open a browser and type DeltaWiFi.com into the address bar yourself. The portal appears, you sign in with your SkyMiles account, and you are online.
If that does not do it, the cause is almost always the connection order, a VPN, a browser refusing to show the portal, or an aircraft that never had free WiFi.
Connect in the order Delta actually specifies
Delta’s instructions have a sequence, and skipping a step is what usually breaks the connection.
Turn on Airplane Mode first. Then switch WiFi back on. Then choose the DeltaWiFi.com network from your list of available networks.
Airplane Mode shuts off the cellular radio, which is what you are required to do in flight anyway. Leaving it on also stops your phone from bouncing between a dying cell signal and the cabin network mid-login.

When the sign-in page never appears
This is the single most common failure, and it has nothing to do with the plane.
Type DeltaWiFi.com manually instead of waiting for the pop-up. Modern browsers force HTTPS on everything, which quietly blocks the redirect a sign-in page relies on.
Still nothing? Open a private or incognito window so your browser stops serving you a cached page from the ground.
Delta’s other suggestion is to tap “Forget This Network” in your WiFi settings, then rejoin from scratch. If you need the heavier option later, resetting network settings leaves your photos and apps alone.
Signed in but pages still will not load
Now you are looking at a satellite problem rather than a device problem. The connection hands off between beams as the aircraft moves, and it drops out over water and remote terrain.
Delta lists full coverage across the contiguous United States, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and the Caribbean. Alaska is limited. Asia currently has none.

Check your aircraft before you blame your phone

A handful of regional jets still sell WiFi instead of giving it away, including select 717, CRJ-700, CRJ-900, ERJ-170 and ERJ-175 aircraft.
When you book, look for the “FREE WIFI FOR SKYMILES MEMBERS” badge on the flight. Delta lists the current WiFi service by aircraft on its onboard WiFi page.

Do I have to pay for Delta WiFi?

Can I use a VPN on Delta WiFi?
