Paramount Plus on Roku: Activation and Playback Fixes

paramount roku - Paramount Plus on Roku: Activation and Playback Fixes

Paramount Roku setup is two separate jobs. You add the app from the Channel Store, then you sign in, and Paramount gives you a choice at that second step. Most people stall on that choice.

Sort the sign-in before you touch anything else. Nearly every report of Paramount+ failing on a Roku is an unfinished activation or an app that never updated.

Two ways to sign in, and when to skip the code

Launch the app and select Sign In. Paramount then offers On My TV or On the Web, and its device guide lists both as valid for Roku.

On My TV means typing the email and password you subscribed with, using the remote. Slow, but it finishes on one screen.

On the Web shows you a code instead. Open Paramount’s Roku activation page on a phone or laptop, sign in if prompted, enter the code and select Activate. The TV refreshes by itself.

Restarting a player and a Roku TV are different menus

Paramount’s Roku troubleshooting steps open with a restart, and the path is not the same on both device types.

On a Roku player, go to Settings, then System, then System Restart. On a Roku TV, the route runs Settings, System, Power, then System Restart. Unplugging the device for a few seconds does the same job on either one.

Then pull any pending app update. Press Home, open Settings, System, System Update, and select Check Now. Paramount lists that check as step two for Roku, the same route behind stalled installs of Disney+ on Roku.

Which error codes actually belong to a Roku

Paramount publishes one error code list, updated in June 2026, and most entries on it are not Roku problems.

Codes 3301 and 3304 are browser faults, and 3304 is usually an ad blocker. Codes 6000 and 6015 are called out for Fire TV and Android TV. That leaves three worth memorising.

CodeWhat Paramount calls itFirst move on a Roku
3002, 3005, 6006ConnectionRestart the modem, wait for the connection, relaunch the app
3205Device or app stateForce close the app, restart the device, then restart the modem
6013Device cannot play protected contentUpdate the firmware, then change HDMI port or cable

Code 6013 is the one people misread. Paramount calls it hardware, and its fix list is almost entirely HDMI: reverse the cable ends, bypass a receiver or sound system, change ports, swap the cable.

The last step in that list is the useful one. Paramount says to try a port on a second TV, and if the stream works there, the original port is the fault.

Code 3205 reads like an account error and is not one. Paramount’s fix is a device restart, then a force close, then the modem, in that order.

Notice what is missing. No code on that list is Roku-specific, so anything you found on a forum but not on Paramount’s page is likely a Roku system message.

When no code appears and nothing loads

If you reach the On the Web screen and no code shows up, Paramount’s published answer is to contact support. It lists no self-fix, so retrying the screen wastes your evening.

Region is next. Paramount notes that a Roku account set to the United States can fail to reach Paramount+ while you are outside the country.

Test the connection before you reinstall. Run Home, Settings, Network, Check Connection, then see whether the Roku Channel app and NBC Sports on Roku stream normally. If they stumble, the app was never the problem.

Frequently asked questions

How many digits is the Paramount Roku activation code?

Paramount does not publish a fixed length for it. Read the code off the TV exactly as shown rather than assuming a format.

Do I have to reinstall the Paramount+ app on my Roku?

Paramount does list force closing and reinstalling as a step for connected devices. Try the restart and the system update check first, because both are quicker.

Why does Paramount+ work on my phone but not my Roku?

That points at the device, not the subscription. Restart the Roku, run the system update check, test the network, and treat a reinstall as the last move.
