Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra receives the largest photo sensor ever installed on a smartphone

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is the first premium flaship phone from the Chinese manufacturer, reason enough to include truly extravagant features.

Aiming at position # 1 in the top best camera phone, the Mi 11 Ultra is the first smartphone to use the new Samsung ISOCELL GN2 image sensor.

Although it also offers the option to capture at 100MP, the new sensor has a native resolution of 50MP, Samsung rather focusing on image quality and other important aspects, such as the speed of the autofocus function and the HDR performance.

ISOCELL GN2 measures 1 / 1.12-inch and achieves 50MP resolution using 1.4μm pixels. To optimize light sensitivity and increase performance in low light conditions, the sensor implements a pixel binning process where four adjacent pixels make up a 2.8μm, composing an image with 12.5MP effective resolution.

At the same time, the new ISOCELL GN2 sensor also receives a new one, called Dual Pixel Pro, the new autofocus technology involves not only scanning on the vertical axis, but also diagonally, for improved accuracy. For example, if the horizontal pattern does not feel horizontal patterns changed in the horizontal direction, the vertical mode will be able to provide an alternative source of information. Dual Pixel Pro technology should be especially useful for photos taken in low light conditions and scenes containing moving objects.

Phones equipped with the second generation of the Samsung ISOCELL GN 50MP sensor can shoot in Full HD mode with up to 480fps, or 4K and 120 fps.

The list of devices expected to use the ISOCELL GN2 sensor also includes the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Lite series.
