How to Screen Record on Your iPhone (No Extra Apps Needed)

Your iPhone can record its own screen with no app to download. The tool is built in, and once you add it to Control Center you are two taps away from recording.

Add the screen recording button first

Open Settings, tap Control Center, then scroll to Screen Recording and tap the green plus next to it.

That drops the record button into your Control Center so it is ready whenever you need it.

Start recording in two taps

Open Control Center. On an iPhone with Face ID, swipe down from the top right corner. On older models with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom.

Tap the solid circle icon. A three second countdown starts, then the circle turns red and a red pill or clock appears at the top of the screen while everything you do is captured.

How to record with sound

Video captures your in app audio by default. To add your own voice, press and hold the record button instead of tapping it, then tap Microphone to turn it on.

This is the part most people miss, and it is why so many screen recordings come out silent.

Stop the recording and find it

Tap the red clock or pill at the top of the screen, then tap Stop. You can also reopen Control Center and tap the record button again.

Your finished video saves straight to the Photos app, in your camera roll, ready to trim or share. For more quick fixes, browse our iPhone guides or head to the Bleebot homepage.
